Welcome to Historic Downtown Bowmanville

This web site is owned by Historic Downtown Bowmanville BIA (Business Improvement Area) for the purpose of promoting downtown businesses who are located within this designated area. For general inquiries about Bowmanville, please contact us using our contact form.

Downtown Bowmanville has never looked so much better, now that the recent improvements are complete. New interlocking brick sidewalks, pedestrian- friendly curb bump-outs and historical lighting make shopping downtown a treat. You can also park for two hours free at any municipal lot.

Historic downtown Bowmanville has everything from antiques to designer clothing on a picturesque and easily accessible main street. With a town bus service that stops in the heart of the business area, friendly local merchants, and the wide variety of goods and services available, there’s no need to shop any place else. Many shops offer free gift wrapping year- round.

The Business Improvement Area (BIA) promotes the business in the downtown core with a variety of special events throughout the year, including Maple Fest and All That Jazz (May); Fabulous Fifties Sidewalk Sale (June); Midnight Madness (August); Apple Festival (October) and Moonlight Madness (December). These popular events have gone beyond their original purpose of promoting local shopping- they are now part of the culture of Bowmanville itself.

The Bowmanville Business Centre (BIA) is a non-profit organization consisting of merchants and businesses operating within the core of downtown Bowmanville. Commonly known as the BIA (Business Improvement Area), it was formed in 1977 with the mandate to promote, enhance and beautify our downtown. Besides our www.Bowmanville.com web site, we also publish the Bowmanville Downtowner (our tri-annual newsletter sent to every home in Clarington).
