Maple Festival & All That Jazz - Thursday, May 3rd, 2007
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You're invited to celebrate the end of a long, cold winter with some hot flapjacks drenched in maple syrup, hot jazz, sizzling bargains, and warm hospitality from the business of historic downtown Bowmanville.
It's all part of the annual Maple Festival Saturday, May 3, featuring one-of-a-kind crafts, street performers, delicious foods, displays by community groups, carnival rides and special events for kids.
New attractions this year include a Children's Pet Show hosted by the pet grooming salon, "And Puppy Dog Tails." The pet show starts at 10 a.m. in the Bank of Montreal parking lot. Contest categories include: pet with the longest tail, largest ears, best trick, best-dressed, and the "pet and kid look-alike competition." And Puppy Dog Tails also hosts a grooming demonstration at noon and a pet first aid demonstration at 3 p.m.
Clarington Central Secondary School will be performing excerpts from its spring musical production, "Urinetown" throught the Maple Festival. Show time is every half hour at the square beside the Bowmanville Town Hall on Temperance St.
Our theme of "all That Jazz" describes not only great music from our eight bands performing throughout the day, but also a wide assortment of maple flavored fun for the entire family. Don't miss the special displays and sales in the downtown shops. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
